Can you give instructions for securing a ballyhoo on this rig? I have 3 I purchased. Ballyhoo don't stay on

Answer:

The method of securing the ballyhoo on this rig is the same as the standard mono version shown in our tutorial. CLICK HERE to watch the video. Also, be sure that the bait isn't simply washing out and deteriorating from prolonged trolling or high speeds. If done correctly the ballyhoo will be well secured and will not come off. How do you fish the Torpedo Latern?

These Torpedo lanterns are super versatile. You can pull them on the surface by attaching them directly to your mainline. They can also be pulled sub surface on a trolling lead and shock leader setup, or even on a planer depending on speed.

Answer:

The Fathom Offshore Jimmy Rig is intended for Ballyhoo, so its limited to the durability and longevity of the dead bait. We typically recommend trolling these in the 6-9knt range. The lure itself can be trolled faster, however the ballyhoo attached may be more inclined to wash out the faster you go.

Answer:

The Torpedo is extremely versatile. You can run it on the surface, or you can run it subsurface with a trolling lead or down planer. The difference is the speed between the Jimmy Rig and the Torpedo Lantern, both can be run up or down, but the Jimmy Rig is rigged for ballyhoo so you typically want to run it slower so the bait wont wash out.

Our Torpedo lanterns are designed to be pulled as is with no bait. They include two egg sinkers hidden within two skirts and a cable rigged stainless steel double hookset. However, the torpedo itself can be rigged a ton of different ways, many include dead bait. We offer the Torpedo (Jimmy Rig) which is rigged on a cable ballyhoo rig that's perfect for Wahoo. We also sell the Torpedo individually so you can rig it to your preference.
