The answer depends on conditions and trolling speed, however a 4-6lbs (6lb being most common) coated dredge fish is the most popular choice for this dredge. If you are trolling faster or conditions are rough, it may require additional weight.

Generally all of our resin style trolling lures are intended to be pulled as is (with NO bait needed.) they are designed with a specific swimming action in mind. When you purchase this lure pre-rigged, it comes with everything needed to fish it out of the box. However, we do have an entire section of lures and baits for dead bait and ballyhoo. While we don't necessarily consider the Game Changer medium a high speed lure, we do know people who have fished it that way with success. We would generally defer you to our HIGH SPEED TROLLING section of the site for high speed specific tackle. We are often looking for lures that are slightly heavier than the Game Changer medium, but that's our own personal preference.

Our Torpedo lanterns are designed to be pulled as is with no bait. They include two egg sinkers hidden within two skirts and a cable rigged stainless steel double hookset. However, the torpedo itself can be rigged a ton of different ways, many include dead bait. We offer the Torpedo (Jimmy Rig) which is rigged on a cable ballyhoo rig that's perfect for Wahoo. We also sell the Torpedo individually so you can rig it to your preference.

The Game Changer small can be pulled in a number of different positions, however we personally like to run this lure shape in the short rigger position. The concave face needs slightly more line angle than a plunger or bullet face in order to achieve its optimal swimming motion. If you don't have outriggers, run this lure short, straight to the rod tip (not pinned down) or from a t-top rocket launcher if possible.

We take all this into account when releasing new products that are tailored to a particular species; thus all of our colors have been proven effective. However, if you have specific questions on an area or geographic location, be sure to call us at 910-399-6882 and we can offer some suggestions based off current trends we are seeing. NOTE: One of the best ways to get an up to date idea of trending colors is to speak to local charter captains and tackle shops in your area, as this info changes often seasonally or even daily/weekly.
