The SR71 weighs in at a solid 32oz. We recommend using it as a surface lure. The concave and jets are designed to occasionally breach the surface, then re-enter and expel its bubble trail. The faster you go (especially in that 20knt range) you will need to put the lure further back in the spread or start to add lead and shock leader as needed.

For redfish you want to have your boat off bank, and depending on the depth of water will determine your length between the cork and bait.You want some slack on the line, and when it hits the water pop your rod twice. Sometimes we'll let it sit a few seconds before popping again.
You'll repeat this a few times before casting again or changing your length / slack. If you don't get a good "clunk" then you want more slack.

Also, be sure that the bait isn't simply washing out and deteriorating from prolonged trolling or high speeds. If done correctly the ballyhoo will be well secured and will not come off. All of our ballyhoo rigs are pre-rigged on 100# mono. The only rig currently made with fluorocarbon is our Dink Bait Circle Hook rigs. They are rigged on 50 and 60# Diamond Fluorocarbon leader.

Offshore vs inshore is simply terminology | slang used to define the type of species you are targeting when fishing. Offshore is associated with species such as Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo, Marlin and various species of open ocean feeders. While inshore is referring to fish that live and feed within close proximity to land, Trout, Flounder, Drum, Snook, etc. There is no exact distance, as that varies from one location to the next. Example: in FL you may be catching Mahi within 5 miles, where as in NC you may be 25-50 miles offshore.

Great question! In these packs we include what we believe to be our best producing color ways regardless of location. They have been historically our best producing color ways based of 10+ years of feedback from Captains all around the globe. With that being said, we do tend to see days where certain colors are being hit over others, this can be caused by anything from cloud cover to types of bait in the area etc. If you have a variety of colors initially, as your day progresses, you can always tailor your spread to what is producing at that moment. Our spread generally evolves over the course of the day.

Great question: if your looking to use this dredge specifically for Mahi, I would recommend the Green. While Mahi will come to other dredge colors, we go back to the schooling mentality of a Mahi. They typically hunt and swim in schools, which is why people will often leave a dolphin on the line when chunking, it keeps the other dolphin close. Same with a Mahi colored dredge. Pink has always been a solid producer for us as well, as it mimics a natural squid color, a food of choice for dolphin and most other pelagics.

Spreader bars can be run in either position. Some boats will run spreader bars on every position. However, most people run a spreader bar from a flat line when pulling lures in other locations. Play around with location and see where you personally are getting the best results. No hard and fast rules when it comes to this, we've had success anywhere from a flat line, to the shotgun.

The Torpedo is extremely versatile. You can run it on the surface, or you can run it subsurface with a trolling lead or down planer. The difference is the speed between the Jimmy Rig and the Torpedo Lantern, both can be run up or down, but the Jimmy Rig is rigged for ballyhoo so you typically want to run it slower so the bait wont wash out.

The lure itself can be trolled faster, however the ballyhoo attached may be more inclined to wash out the faster you go.
